My hometown is Orlando and yes I worked for Mickey. I worked at EPCOT in Future World never dreaming one day that I would be teaching technology and using Disney as a resource in my classroom. While working at EPCOT I attended & graduated from Dental Assisting school then worked as a CDA for a periodontal office in Orlando. I applied and was accepted into the Florida Junior College (now Florida State College) Dental Hygiene program which was the point in my life that made North Florida my home. I worked in both Clay and Duval County in the dental world. I transferred to UNF and completed my Bachelors in Science degree in Health Science.
After graduating with my Bachelors I did a complete twist in careers and worked for Tandy as Radio Shack manager for five years. That is when I learned that I had a love of how things work, one thing led to another, I went back to UNF and completed all of the classes I needed to become a teacher. Because science was a large part of my life naturally I thought I would be a science teacher but then I discovered TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION! The day I walked into the technology lab at WJHS I knew I found the best career choice ever. I taught at Wilkinson Junior High as technology teacher for seven years. I knew I found what I was looking in a career so I decided that graduate school was the next step. I have a master’s degree from the University of South Florida in Career and Technical Education.
I have been married to my husband Tom for 15 years and I have twin girls (Katie and Christina) that are also LAJH tigers. We have 2 family pets Max, our Labrador that is a crazy mess and a white bunny named Snow White. (I bet you can guess who named her).
